Future Robot (www.futurerobot.com) was founded in 2009 as specialists in service robots. Based on Human Robot Interaction, the FURO-S, D, D+ was commercialized by the company, with recent launchings of ‘VENY’, the cashier robot at 7-Eleven; the remote assisted medical robot, ‘FURO-M’; and the all-purpose desktop robot ‘FURO-NOVA’.

In 2015, it was listed by RBR50 as one of the 50 most influential robots in the global robot industry. Further, at the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games, more than 30 robots were in operation as official guides, placing Korean robot technology at front and center of the world stage. Through design (product, US&UI), development (S/W, H/W), manufacturing, and sales, Future Robot is being recognized as a total solution provider in the robotics sector.

In August, Future Robot dove into the cashier robot market by unveiling ‘VENY’, an AI-powered cashier robot equipped with customer communications technology and multiple payment options at 7-Eleven, a subsidiary of the Lotte Group. The company also unveiled their dementia care robot. In collaboration with the National Research Foundation of Korea, Future Robot provided support to the research team of Professor Oh Jin Hwan at the Department of Nursing at Suwon Science College who collaboratively developed ‘Support for cognitive training for dementia patients’. The research focused on early emotional care as a way to prevent dementia and soften its early symptoms, and, with the aim of fostering a sense of emotional bond and stability, it was given the name ‘GangAji(meaning 'puppy')’.

The company also unveiled their railway police robot, FURO-P. This robot features self-driving technology, which allows automated patrol functions; remote controlled manual patrol services; call button and video call services for emergencies; and accompanied patrol and information services through object recognition. Through the security/patrol robotic system, the product offers security management and visitor service functions as an effective remote controlled management solution and robot system. The robot operation system is expected to improve the efficiency of protection/security and work functions within the railway station. Future Robot will operate a total of 4 units at Seoul and Dongdaegu Stations (2 at each station) from October to December this year. The robots can be used in a variety of ways to provide protection/security for Smart Cities and Smart Buildings. The company is currently in talks with representatives of two interested parties.
