¡ãNetwork-based thin-client robot “Hamco”
KAIMAX(www.kairobot.co.kr) is a Korean educational robot company established in 2004.

At the dawn of the 21st century, it has become clear that this century requires creative talents with skills in knowledge convergence and problem-solving. However, in order to cultivate this kind of human resource for our shifting future, the educational framework should also be recalibrated. As such, we need to step away from our current theory-centered education and move towards solving real-life problems through touch and direct experience to provide an engaging learning experience for students.

Long in the business of developing educational robots, KAIMAX is striving to foster future creative convergent talent by bringing together the fields of engineering and humanities with their creativity, character, and experiential learning programs. Currently, the company exports its robot programs to more than 10 countries around the world and is operating specialized robot training centers in Korea.

KAIMAX develops and sells a variety of educational robot products. Its main products are the “STEAM Kai Robot Doctor,” which develops creative thinking and problem solving abilities through robot construction ideas and hands-on experience; the world’s first infant robot educational program, Kai Robot Kids; a network-based thin-client robot, Hamco; the multi-functional controller ID Brain P and the service robot KAKI Robot which is optimized for introduction to robot programming, and the multi-functional robot controller KRC W and Candy sensor developed in collaboration with Korea’s leading research institution, KAIST.

In particular, the network-based thin-client robot Hamco is a small, cute educational software product. This product is suitable for software coding education, which has enjoyed the global limelight in recent years. Hamco can be used to explore computing thinking, block coding, game coding, art coding, sensory coding, and creative coding, among others. The Hamco robot can be used with the various LED and sensors and motor, and can be connected to other devices such as computers, smart phones and tablets. The level of difficulty is easily controlled with the appropriate software, so that everything from easy-to-block programs to high-level text programs is possible.

Key features include a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, Bluetooth 4.0 support, two DC motors, two forward range sensors, two floor sensors, two 7-color LEDs, three axis acceleration sensors, illuminance sensor, internal temperature sensor, piezo speaker, and external expansion terminal.

By passing the standards set by the Korea Institute for Robot Industry Advancement, an agency accredited by Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, KAIMAX’s educational robot received a quality certification for intelligent robots. This was the first such quality certification for an educational robot.

According to a company associate, upon “securing this external mark of trust in the quality of the educational robots,” the company expects the biggest sales effect to take place in their exports division.

A group of top robot education experts is involved with Kai Robot by studying robot + education. Based on its excellent content, authenticated quality, and over10 years of education know-how and experience, the company is actively pursuing a superior educational robot. With certification for overseas exports such as CCC, CE and FCC secured, the company is well on their way to expanding their export market.
