Nuri Robot (www.nurirobot.com) was founded in 2013 with a focus on robot parts and platform for industrial and service robots. Currently, the company is devoted to developing customized products based on their superior technological skill in motor control, sensor signal processing, and robot algorithms.

Nuri Robot's three main business areas focus on motor drive solutions, smart actuator solutions, and customized products.

¡ã DC Motor Controller
The company’s motor drive solution consists of developing, manufacturing, and selling DC, BLDC, AC, STEP motor drive solutions, along with the motor driver and controller solutions. To adjust the speed and direction of motor driver, the DC motors have rated output powers of 5, 15, 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400W. The BLDC motors have rated output powers of 5, 15, 50, 100, 200 and 400W. Customers requiring further specifications and customizations are advised to make separate consultations.

¡ã DC Motor Driver
The company develops, produces, and sells the Smart Actuator Solution, which is considered a core component of the robot. The decelerator, BLDC motor, motor controller, sensor, and brake are integrated into the smart actuator; a flat cylindrical actuator solution, which can be applied to wearable robots; and a shaft actuator solution that can be applied to multi-axis robots. Nuri Robot's smart actuators appeal to customers who prefer the distinct flat, hollow design. Designed to be small, flat, and round, this product allows the development of slim robots; the hollow cable is positioned at the center of the axis of rotation to avoid cable tears. The Rotary Smart Actuators have a motor diameter of 70 mm, and two models are offered, a rated torque (kgf.cm) of100 (RSA70-100) and 200 (RSA70-200). Customers requiring further specifications and customizations are advised to make separate consultations.

¡ã Smart Motor
The already saturated market for education-related smart actuators persuaded the company’s decision makers to instead target and focus on the industrial-use market. CEO of Nuri Robot Tae-young Lee explains, “Current actuators on the market are quite long, necessitating extremely bulky shafts and robot arms and legs. Our actuators are round, flat, and spacious, which allows the robots to be slimmed down considerably and can be used in wearable designs in the future. Until now, all robots had long motors, making the joints similarly long. In wearables, too, the joint area has been long but the advantage of the flat design is that they can get much slimmer. Also, because our product is hollow, the issues with wires – such twisting or tearing – have been resolved. Our hollow actuator is the first of its kind,” he emphasized, proudly singling his product out from among those currently on the market. The smart actuator for industrial use has a maximum load capacity of 100kg.

¡ã Smart Motor
In addition, industrial-use and service robot platforms are also in development and production. Customized services include custom-made robots, pre-order automation machinery production services; robotics and circuit PCB design and production services. Nuri Robot prides itself on being able to customize just about any customer request. Sometimes customers approach Nuri Robot to develop special parts for their own companies, and as all of the employees are engineers, active support is available for such requests. Nuri Robot's automated shooting equipment was used at the Incheon Asian Games 2014 archery event and is still being used in filming the SBS “K-pop Star.” The company’s research platform has also been delivered to Seoul National University.

Nuri Robot is Korea’s small but rapidly growing robot parts venture company. Based on sound technology, the company is setting itself apart with its superior engineering and reasonable cost of its products and is leading the wave of the commercialization of robots.

Mr. Lee believes that full commercialization of robots is difficult to attain because of the current exorbitant cost of robots. Commercialization of robots will occur when the cost of a robot falls and consumers can easily purchase a robot. For this to happen, he says, the parts of the robot must be economical.

Nuri Robot entered the robot parts market with the vision of creating a world of coexisting humans and robots. Though young, this company’s deft engineering skills and leadership make it a serious contender in the robot market.
